Assam

Rang Ghar : Located along the Assam Trunk Road and northeast of the Rangpur Palace , it was first constructed from bamboo and wood during the reign of Swargadeo Rudra Singha and later rebuilt with bricks by Swargadeo Pramatta Singha.

Talatal Ghar : This is an 18th- century palace and military base located in Rangpur , Sivasagar , Assam. It had two tunnels , four stories above ground level, and three underground stories.

Kareng Ghar ( Garhgaon Palace ) : Located in Garhgaon, 15 kilometers from Sivasagar, Assam , it was built of wood and stone. Construction began in 1698 by Sukhrun Gapha. Swargadeo Rajeswar Singha completed the current permanent structure in 1752 , consisting of a seven-story brick and stone palace.

Powa Mecca : Located on the Garurachal Hill in Hajo, Assam, it houses the tomb of Pir Ghiyasuddin Auliya. It was built by Shujauddin Muhammad Shah in 1657 , during the reign of the famous Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.

Ahom King's Palace : This is a historic building in Garhgaon, Assam. It was built by King Rajeswar Singha in 1752 AD . It is a four-story palace with a domed roof and a chamber. The palace has three halls on the ground floor facing west.

 

Bihar

Golghar : Designed by Captain John Garstin of the Bengal Engineers, this massive granary was built in Patna in 1786. Its dome-shaped structure reaches a height of 29 meters. A total of 145 steps lead to the top of the Golghar, which is spiral in shape .

stone mosque ( Saif Khan's Mosque ) - Built by Parvez Shah ( son of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir ) . This mosque is constructed of stone , hence the name " Stone Mosque . "

 

Delhi

Qutb Minar Complex : These are monuments and buildings of the Delhi Sultanate in Mehrauli, Delhi.

It includes the Qutub Minar , the Qubbat - ul - Islam Mosque, and the Alai Darwaza. It was included as a World Heritage Site in 1993 .

Qutub Minar : Its construction was started by Qutubuddin Aibak in 1199 AD and was completed by Iltutmish.

Qubbat - ul - Islam Mosque : Built between 1192 and 1198 by Qutbuddin Aibak , Alauddin Khilji continued the construction and added two entrances on the east side and one each on the north and south sides.

Alai Darwaza : This is the southern entrance to the Quwwat - ul - Islam Mosque. Built in 1311 AD by Sultan Alauddin Khilji, it is made of red sandstone. It is a square, domed gateway with an arched entrance and a single chamber.

Qutb - al - Aqtab Khawaja Sayyid Muhammad Bakhtiyar al - Husayni Qutb al - Din Bakhtiyar Kaki was a Sunni Muslim Sufi mystic , saint, and scholar of the Chishti order from Delhi. His dargah is located near Zafar Mahal in Mehrauli and is the oldest dargah in Delhi.

India Gate ( All India War Memorial ): Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, it is called the Amar Jawan Jyoti ( Flame of the Immortal Soldier ) . Since 1971 , it has served as the tomb of India's unknown soldiers.

Jahaaz Mahal : Located next to the Hauz - i - Shamsi in Mehrauli, Delhi , it is believed to have been built during the Lodi dynasty as a recreational spot and inn.

Other famous monuments :

Red Fort – It was built by Shahjahan ( Mughal Emperor ) .

Purana Qila Built by Humayun and Sher Shah Suri.

Gujarat

Teen Darwaza : This is a historic gateway to the east of Ahmedabad's Bhadra Fort. It was built by Ahmed Shah I soon after the founding of Ahmedabad and was completed in 1415 .

Haryana

Vishwamitra's Mound : Located on the southern bank of the Saraswati River in the Pehowa district of Kurukshetra, Haryana. The author of the third chapter of the Rigveda

Vishwamitra was the one who composed the famous Gayatri Mantra.

 

Karnataka

Daria Daulat Bagh : This is a palace located in Srirangapatna ( Mysore ) . It was built by Tipu Sultan ( the Tiger of Mysore ) in 1784 .

Mysore Palace ( Amba Vilas Palace ): It is located in Mysore, Karnataka. Mysore is commonly described as the ' City of Palaces ' , and it has seven palaces, including this one. Yadu Rai

14th century. The present structure was constructed between 1897 and 1912 .

Rangini Mahal : It is an integral part of the Bidar Fort, located in the state of Karnataka. It was built in 1524 AD by the Bidar rulers. It is also known as Rani Mahal.

 

Kerala

Mattancherry Palace ( Dutch Palace ): Located in Kochi, Kerala, it was established around 1545 AD by the Portuguese as a gift to King Veera Kerala Varma of the Kochi dynasty.

Kanakakunnu Palace : Located near the Napier Museum in Thiruvananthapuram ( Kerala ) . It was built during the reign of King Sree Moolam Thirunal of Travancore with the help of Viswabrahman. It is India's first digital garden.

 

Ladakh

Leh Palace ( Lachen Palkar Palace ): This is a former royal palace overlooking the city of Leh in Ladakh. It was built in 1600 AD by Sengge Namgyal.

 

Maharashtra

Gateway of India It is an arch-shaped monument built in the early 20th century in the city of Mumbai ( Bombay ) . It was built to commemorate the arrival of Emperor George V and Queen Mary , the first British monarchs to visit India, in December 1911 .

Namaste Tower : A 310 m (1,017 ft ) tall skyscraper mega project in Mumbai . It was designed by Atkins ( Dubai ) .

Chand Minar ( Tower of the Moon ): It was built in the 15th century by King Alauddin Bahmani to commemorate his capture of the fort.

 

Madhya Pradesh

Sheesh Mahal : It is located in Orchha Fort in Madhya Pradesh. The fort complex was built by Maharaja Uddet Singh of the Bundela Rajput dynasty. The monuments located within the complex are the Raja Mahal , the Jahangir Mahal, and the Phool Bagh.

Rajwada Palace ( Holkar Palace ): Located in Indore , Madhya Pradesh, its construction was begun by Malhar Rao Holkar ( founder of the Holkar dynasty ) in 1747 .

Jahaaz Mahal : Located in the Mandu region of Madhya Pradesh, it was built during the reign of the Mandu Sultan Ghiyasuddin Khilji.

 

Punjab

Castle of glass ( Place of Mirrors ): It was located in Patiala ( Punjab ) and was built by Maharaja Narinder Singh (1845–1862) behind the main Moti Bagh Palace.

Sarai Nurmahal : Built by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir between 1605 and 1627, it is located near Jalandhar ( Punjab ) . It was built during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir.

It was done under the supervision of Zakariya Khan ( Governor of Doab in 1618 AD ) on the orders of his wife Nur Jahan.

 

Rajasthan

two and a half day hut ( Ajmer ): It was commissioned by Qutbuddin Aibak in 1192 AD and designed by Abu Bakr of Herat. The structure was completed in 1199 AD .

Kirti Stambh (75 ft ) : This is a 12th -century minaret located in the Chittor Fort in Chittorgarh. It was built by Rana Kumbha to celebrate his victory over Malwa. It was designed by Jija Bhagerwala.

Castle of glass ( Mirror Palace ): Located in the Amer Fort in Jaipur, Rajasthan, it was built in the 16th century and completed in 1727 .

Hawa Mahal : Located in Jaipur ( Rajasthan ) , it was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh ( grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh ) , the founder of Jaipur . It was designed by Lal Chand Ustad.

Monsoon Palace ( Sajjan Garh Palace ): It is a palatial residence located on a hilltop overlooking Fateh Sagar Lake in the city of Jaipur (Rajasthan). It was built in 1884 for Maharana Sajjan Singh of Mewar and was named Sajjangarh after him.

Lalgarh Palace : It is located in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

It was built between 1902 and 1926 for Sir Ganga Singh ( Maharaja of Bikaner ) . It is named in memory of his father, Maharaja Lal Singh. It was built under the British

Umaid Bhawan Palace : Located in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, it was built during the reign of Maharaja Umaid Singh. It is the last royal palace built in pre-independence India.

Tamil Nadu

Vivekananda Rock Memorial : This is a popular tourist monument in Kanyakumari , Tamil Nadu. It was built in 1970 to honor Swami Vivekananda.

Thirumalai Nayakkar ( Nayak ) Palace : Located in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, it was built in 1635 AD by King Tirumala Nayak of the Nayak dynasty of Madurai.

 

Tripura

Ujjayanta Palace ( Nyungma ): The original Ujjayanta Palace was built in 1862 by King Isan Chandra Manikya. However , it was destroyed in the 1897 Assam earthquake. The present Ujjayanta Palace was rebuilt in 1901 by Maharaja Radha Kishore. Manikya and named it Nenuyungama by Rabindranath Tagore.

 

Telangana

Charminar : It is a monument located in Hyderabad , Telangana. It was built by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 AD after he moved his capital from Golconda to the newly built city of Hyderabad. It was designed by Mir Momin Astarabadi.

Chowmahalla Palace ( Chowmahalla or Four Palaces ): This is the palace of the Nizams of Hyderabad. It was built by Nizam Salabat Jung.

 

West Bengal

Victoria Memorial : A large marble structure located in the grounds of Kolkata, West Bengal. It was built between 1906 and 1921 by the then British government.

entry door ( Malda ): It was built in 1425 AD as a gateway under the supervision of Alauddin Hussain Shah .

was done in Indo - Islamic ( terracotta construction ) style.

Shaheed Minar ( Ochterlony Monument ): This is a monument in Calcutta, built in 1828 to commemorate Major General Sir David Ochterlony, commander of the British East India Company. Designed by J. P. Parker , the tower stands 48 metres ( 157 ft ) tall .

Black Hall : The Black Hall of Calcutta was a dungeon prison where British soldiers were held captive overnight in horrific conditions in 1756 AD .

Hazarduari Palace ( Bara Kothi ) : Located within the Nizamat Fort complex in Murshidabad, West Bengal, it was built during the reign of Nawab Nazim Humayun Jah by architect Duncan McLeod.

Uttar Pradesh

Bara Imambara ( Asfi Imambara ): This is an imambara complex in Lucknow. It was commissioned by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula of Awadh in 1785 AD . It is the second largest imambara after the Nizamat Imambara. It marks the maturity of the Badshahi Mosque.

Chota Imambara ( Imambara Hussainabad Mubarak ): It is a magnificent monument located in the city of Lucknow. It was built by Muhammad Ali Shah ( Nawab of Awadh in 1838 AD ) as an imambara, or congregation hall, for Shia Muslims. The building is also known as the Palace of Lights.

Rumi Darwaza (60 feet high ): Located in Lucknow. Built in 1784 by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula, it is located between the Bara Imambara and the Chota Imambara .

Buland Darwaza ( Gate of Victory ) Built in 1575 AD by the Mughal Emperor Akbar to commemorate his victory over Gujarat. It is the main entrance to the Jama Masjid in Fatehpur Sikri, Agra. The Buland Darwaza is the tallest gateway in the world.

The Haveli of Aga Khan and the Hathikhana : Located on the eastern side of the Taj Mahal in Agra, it was declared a " National Monument " by the Ministry of Culture in 2019 .

Taj Mahal ( Agra ): Built by Shah Jahan ( the Mughal emperor ) in honor of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, it began construction in 1632. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 It was included in the 19th century. It was designed by Ustad Ahmad Lahauri. In 2007 it was included in the Seven Wonders of the World.

Sheesh Mahal : Located in the Agra Fort in Uttar Pradesh, it was built by Shah Jahan between 1631 and 1640 AD .

Panch Mahal : This is a palace in Fatehpur Sikri , Agra , Uttar Pradesh. It was built by Akbar.

Sheesh Mahal : Located near Akbar's tomb in Sikandra ( Agra , Uttar Pradesh ) , it was built by Jahangir between 1605 and 1619 AD .
